San Marco reinvents the coffee ritual with its Up’Cup collection

As an ambassador for Italian art de vivre, elegance and refinement, San Marco has always combined tradition and modernity to create exceptional coffees. Intimately linked to the world of the arts, the brand regularly calls on designers to create objects dedicated to espresso tasting. Today, it’s the designer Stefania di Petrillo who is reinterpreting this moment of pleasure with the up’cup collection of cups and toppers. To mark the occasion, San Marco has launched a sweepstake to win this service and discover a new ritual around its Italian coffee!

“For the San Marco café, I wanted to reinterpret the classic espresso cup and combine the skills of yesteryear – enamel work – with an innovative concept. Enamel is a very old material, which has long since disappeared from our world. It’s a layer of glass powder applied to a sheet of metal and fired at very high temperatures to forge the two materials together.” Stefania di Petrillo

At San Marco’s invitation, Stefania has created up’cup: a collection of 6 espresso cups, combined with 6 over-cups, which create the fantasy of these duos. This innovative concept is based on her favorite material, enamel. The artist invites us to play with codes and discover a whole new ritual around coffee.

Placed on top of the cup, the over-cup traps aromas, retains heat and can hold sugar, sweets or a teaspoon for personalized service.
