Located in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, the Beaugrenelle shopping center opened its doors to the public on October 23. Intended primarily to attract residents of the neighboring 7th and 16th arrondissements, the target is a priori well selected.
It was during a press and elected officials’ evening that the shopping complex was inaugurated in the heart of the capital, with resources worthy of a Disneyland attraction launch. After a very full speech (understandably) and glittering confetti, the center finally welcomed a crowd eager to discover the interior of this very futuristic building. French cancan and a few glasses of champagne later, we took a tour of the center to find that there were no real surprises in terms of brands. Uniqlo, Muji, Cojean, H&M, Fnac and Habitat – we’ve got several of these in Paris, but it would have been wiser to install an IKEA (which is sorely lacking in the capital). The pleasant surprise is the huge Marks & Spencer, which offers men’s fashion and devotes a floor to its famous food.
Today also sees the opening of the Pathé cinema at Beaugrenelle, designed by Ora Ito.
