A few weeks ago, we discovered a place of rare refinement and class just a stone’s throw from the hustle and bustle of the Champs Elysées: The Hôtel Lancaster.

Ideally located in the heart of the 8th arrondissement, a stone’s throw from the Champs Elysées, the Hôtel Lancaster is a private mansion whose architecture illustrates a certain French art de vivre. Built in 1889, the Palace’s key asset is its ability to bridge the gap between modernity and history.
With 57 rooms set around a lovely Zen-inspired interior garden, this small, intimate palace is a haven of peace and discretion. A vast and precious collection of French art and antiques, finely blended with contemporary elements, offers everyone an exceptional setting during their stay. With 43 rooms and 14 suites, and attentive, caring staff, life at the Lancaster is like that of a private home.
The renovation of all the rooms, suites and corridors of the small Parisian palace, completed in February 2012, was aimed at offering refined, refreshed spaces that reinforce the origins of the place, and pay tribute to the history and characters that have made the Lancaster’s reputation.
The Lancaster has played host to many prestigious guests: Russian painter Boris Pastoukhoff, Marlene Dietrich, Clark Gable, Greta Garbo, Robert Capa and Grace Kelly have all left their mark on the hotel, which quickly became a second home for many of them.
The Lancaster Hotel boasts a Michelin-starred restaurant, La Table du Lancaster, overseen by French chef Julien Roucheteau. Chef Roucheteau and Restaurant Manager Jean-Paul Da Costa work together to raise the standard of the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, La Table du Lancaster, a fine dining experience renowned for its creative menu, elegant setting and quality service.
pleine terre”, “De la rivière à l’étang”, “Au gré des vents et marées”, “Les pâturages et la bassecour” offer a
walk through our countryside and that of the world, through a clear and daring cuisine.

Thanks to his gastronomic skills, Julien Roucheteau sublimates traditional products and opens up to the world with dishes treated in unexpected ways. If the plate has the good taste to remain appetizing, Julien doesn’t hesitate to explore a more surprising palette of flavors for the accompaniments and condiments.
The young chef’s cuisine is elegant and contemporary, but above all tasty, and we spent a pleasant moment here, accompanying his refined dishes with wine from a magnificent menu.
We wholeheartedly recommend “Les Bons Plans de la Table”, a weekly lunchtime menu at the Table du Lancaster, from Monday to Friday, offering a choice of 2 starters, 2 main courses (meat or fish) and 2 desserts (fruit or gourmet). You can also choose whether or not to include drinks, for perfect budget control without sacrificing the quality of gourmet cuisine…
Menu at 45€ = Starter + main course + dessert
Menu at 58€ = Starter + main course + dessert + 1 glass of wine + Evian/Badoit + Tea/coffee
We’ve also heard great things about the recently renovated Bar du Lancaster, where young mixologist Mei Ho spontaneously and freshly draws inspiration from the world of pastry-making in which she grew up to offer a surprising cocktail menu. The menu features 15 signature cocktails on the themes of “L’An Caster”, “Pastoukhoff”, “Marlène Dietrich”, “Greta Garbo” and “Grace de Monaco”, in reference to the many celebrities who have frequented the establishment.
Let yourself be tempted by “L’encre de Chine”, a cocktail made with soya milk, white crème de cacao, sesame syrup and Calvados. The strength of the Calvados is subtly softened by the creaminess of the soya milk, making it a soft, sweet cocktail almost like a dessert.
On a sunnier, fruitier note, “Le Plein Soleil”, made with apricot juice and delicately crushed fresh blackberries, flavored with thyme syrup and essential oils of lavender, rose and lemon balm, accompanied by gin and lime nectar, takes you on a sensory journey to the south of France.
