For the first time ever, the famous Häagen-Dazs ice cream brand has called on a celebrity to be its face. And it was Bradley Cooper who was chosen. The American actor, who was named “Sexiest Man Alive” in 2011 by People magazine’s eagerly awaited annual poll, didn’t hesitate to turn on the charm for the Häagen-Dazs ad. Nominated several times this year for his performance in Happiness Therapy in the Best Actor category at the Oscars, Golden Globes Awards and BAFTA Awards. He also starred in the magnificent film The Place Beyond The Pines alongside Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling, proving that he can be equally at home in comedy and drama.
Here’s a preview of the commercial’s synopsis: Bradley Cooper is on his way to a party to enjoy a tub of Häagen-Dazs ice cream, until he meets a beautiful woman who invites him to join her in a private room. Intrigued, Bradley Cooper follows her but soon realizes that she only has eyes for his delicious Häagen-Dazs ice cream. Pure gourmet desire at the expense of a tête-à-tête with the actor.
To direct the commercial, Bradley Cooper called on his director friend Allen Hughes, with whom he shot the 2009 film New York I Love You. For the film’s soundtrack, Häagen-Dazs called on the talented young singer Selah Sue, whose deep voice and blusy intonations are perfectly suited to her interpretation of Spoonful, a standard written by Etta James in 1960, which she brings up to date for the occasion.
The TV spot will be on our screens from May 12, 2013.
