Between coloring, the sun and the pool… it’s fair to say that our hair has a lot to suffer! What better way to care for it than to use a molecule which is already 95% present in healthy hair, but which doesn’t renew itself? I call it keratin.
Commonly known as “Brazilian straightening”, the application of keratin directly to slightly damp hair not only strengthens it, but also makes it as smooth as it is silky.

Marie, a specialist in Brazilian straightening and creator of Sô Liss, a new-generation French Brazilian straightener, was kind enough to answer my questions.

Hi Marie, can you tell us a bit about your background and how you discovered Brazilian straightening?
I discovered Brazilian straightening as I came across it in my personal search for a solution to my own hair problems. I wasn’t blessed with naturally smooth, silky, disciplined hair, but instead I have dry, brittle hair, ranging from slightly curly to very frizzy… I’ve always found it difficult to style my hair, and the solutions available on the cosmetics market have never fully satisfied me, so I’ve always been on the lookout for new hairstyling solutions. It was while chatting on forums in the United States that I heard about Brazilian straightening, known there as “brazilian keratin treatment”: a deep treatment based on keratin, an essential component of hair, which repairs it, makes it silky and, as a bonus, smoothes it for three months.
Who should undergo Brazilian straightening? Can I color my hair directly after the Brazilian straightening procedure?
It’s advisable to wait about ten days before coloring after Brazilian straightening. Depending on the brand, these times may vary…
If you wish to color your hair before Brazilian straightening, you should allow at least a week’s delay.
Brazilian straightening is compatible with all chemical treatments, and even more so if the hair has been chemically treated beforehand (straightening, coloring, bleaching, highlights…).
You offer Brazilian straightening in a salon in the north of Paris. Can you tell us more about your services?
I offer Brazilian straightening in a salon located in the north of Paris, at the St Denis Basilique metro station.
I propose a single fee of 180 euros, whatever the length and thickness of the hair.
I use a latest-generation Brazilian product, i.e. one that is rinsed out immediately in the salon, composed essentially of keratin, collagen and panthenol. It’s a very smoothing and repairing product that gives excellent results on all hair types.
At the same time, I’ve been working for over a year with a French laboratory and I’m currently developing my own brand of Brazilian straightening, Sô Liss, which will be launched in November.
How will Sô Liss differ from other Brazilian straightening products currently available from hairdressers?
Currently, 95% of salon brands require customers to keep keratin in their hair for three days. During this period, it is strictly forbidden to take water, to put hair behind the ears, to sweat, to tie it up… In addition to this constraint, the customer only sees the result of her straightening after her first shampoo, after three days.
Sô Liss is a range of Brazilian straightening and care products that meet the most demanding requirements of high-end customers.
Formalin-free, Sô Liss respects the scalp and hair, as well as the respiratory tracts of both customer and stylist, without losing effectiveness.
Sô Liss’ exclusive formula contains Pequi oil (a fruit tree from Brazil), wheat proteins and keratin from prestigious Kashmir wool: hair is smoothed, nourished and volume is reduced from the very first application, in a totally natural way that lasts for three months.
