For Diane von Furstenberg’s spring-summer 2027 collection, Henry Zankov revisits the designer’s legacy by exploring her idea of clothing as a language of the body. At the heart of his vision is a woman free in her movements, guided by her desires and her instinct. Her wardrobe becomes the natural extension of her personality, without effort or artifice.
The collection is built around elongated silhouettes, where fluidity and natural sensuality meet. Supple lines invite endless combinations, forming a wardrobe suited to the rhythm of a life in motion. Colour-blocking sets jersey, chiffon and pieces inspired by tailoring in dialogue. Silk cut on the bias and drapes that recall the art of wearing a scarf lend the silhouettes an airy quality. The body becomes the main vehicle of expression: the garment envelops it, reveals it in touches and redraws its contours. Fine jersey, crinkled chiffon and deconstructed cuts cultivate a spontaneous allure, as if the pieces found their final shape through movement. Animal prints drawn from the house’s archives are reinvented through new silhouettes. Here, sensuality is expressed without excessive display or an overly obvious intention.
It emerges in the movement of a shoulder, a neckline that slips, or the natural motion of a fabric. Henry Zankov thus shifts the traditional codes of seduction towards a more personal expression, based on attitude and body language. Nourished by the strength of the women who surrounded him, the collection celebrates independence as a natural state rather than a wish to conform to an image. Diane von Furstenberg thus offers a wardrobe for women who set their own rules, favouring freedom, lightness and assurance in every movement.
