Christian Dior traveled to the United States as early as 1947; one of the destinations on this odyssey was Texas with its extraordinary landscapes.
Inspired by the powerful connections between Dior’s history and this American state, Kim Jones links past and presentby collaborating with Texas-born rapper, singer, songwriter and music producer Travis Scott. Reflecting the House’s savoir-faire, the Tailoring structures the collection; the slanted tailoring adds a formal touch contrasting with the sportswear elements. Travis Scott reinvents the Dior logo logo in a series of graphics, while accessories feature the revisited Dior oblique motif. The Saddle bag is also reinterpreted with a solid stirrup handle, while a new Dior sneaker evokes the world of skateboarding. Exploring the United States through Dior’s vision takes us back to the fine arts: in a series of works, Kim Jones, Travis Scott and the House of Dior team up with American artist George Condo who designs hand-painted shirts. A virtuoso alliance of creative visions.
