HOPIUM INVENTS THE FIRST HIGH-END HYDROGEN-POWERED SEDAN
French racing driver Olivier Lombard announces the birth of Hopium, launching the first top-of-the-range hydrogen-powered model. It’s a revolution in the automotive industry.
Hopium, manufacturer of the Hydrogen Motive Company (HMC) group unveils the ”Hopium Māchina”. A true technological feat, the ”Hopium Māchina”, will offer in addition to a neutral carbon footprint, an exceptional range of over 1000 km and a record recharge time of just 3 minutes. Boasting a power output of over 500 hp, it will combine performance, hyper connectivity, safety and ergonomics by combining a comfortable yet sporty interior with a unique design. A first prototype of the ”Hopium Māchina” will be unveiled by June 2021 and series production will take place by 2026. Hopium will build its ”machines” in France, its first market before deployment in Europe, China, South Korea, Japan and the United States. As a high-tech manufacturer, Hopium aims to become the world’s benchmark brand in hydrogen mobility, with sales of €1 billion by 2030.
OLIVIER LOMBARD
A seasoned racing driver, Olivier Lombard’s heritage is automotive culture. In 2011, he forged an international reputation by becoming the youngest racer to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans. A visionary, he ventured onto the hydrogen track in 2013. For 7 years, he tested hydrogen-powered competition cars from the Swiss laboratory GreenGT, which specializes in R&D and the implementation of high-powered electric-hydrogen propulsion systems (fuel cells). As part of MissionH24, which aims to have the first hydrogen-powered racing car compete at Le Mans in 2024, Olivier Lombard took a demonstration lap of the LMPH2G, the very first hydrogen-powered competition prototype, at the recent 24H du Mans, the fruit of hard work, hand-in-hand with engineers. In 2020, he founded the Hydrogen Motive Company and its automotive division Hopium in France, to develop the first high-end hydrogen-powered sedan.
