Leica Camera AG presents a limited edition of its digital rangefinder camera with a black and white sensor: the Leica M Monochrom (Type 246) ” StealthEdition“. Composed of a camera and a Summicron-M 1:2/35ASPH. lens, this edition was designed by Marcus Wainwright, founder and owner of the New York brand ” Rag & Bone”. His design philosophy is to sublimate iconic models. With the M Monochrom camera, this Leica photography enthusiast and black and white photo enthusiast takes discretion to the extreme and creates a unique design with fluorescent accents.
Wainwright wanted the exterior of the Leica M Monochrom (Type 246) ” Stealth Edition” to be as black as possible to emphasize its understated character. For this purpose, the camera and the lens were provided with a special matte and scratch-resistant coating. Matching the ensemble, the deep black cowhide leather cover is extremely smooth, while offering excellent grip. The main engravings of both products have been provided with a fluorescent varnish that glows in the dark to form a visual contrast. In this way, it is possible in low light situations to adjust the aperture or the distance on the lens more quickly, a new fact that brings certain advantages in spontaneous situations.

Classic lens, the Summicron-M 1:2/35 mm ASPH. seduces by its reproduction performances and its exceptional bokeh. Despite its high brightness and extraordinary image quality, it is surprisingly compact. Together with the Leica M, it forms an extremely sober and elegant ensemble. TheSummicron-M is equipped with a rectangular metal lens hood that screws on. For use without a lens hood, it has a threaded metal protection ring.
The Leica M Monochrom(Typ 246) ” Stealth Edition” will be available from the end of March 2018 in selected Leica Stores. The edition is limited to 125 copies worldwide and is specially numbered. A comfortable black fabric strap, a metal front cap for the lens and the certificate of authenticity are included in the delivery.
