A few days after Earth Day, we present the beautiful and warm Ariane, denim upcycler and creator of the Kinsu brand. We already spoke to you briefly about her at the Montreal fashion preview, where she presented some of her creations.
Created 3 years ago, the Kinsu brand, which initially offered a line of handmade accessories and later clothing, is now looking to launch a ready-to-wear line and “ready-to-manufacture” exclusive pieces.
So it’s not with her thread, but with a pair of jeans and a pair of scissors that Ariane shows us the way through the labyrinth that is tomorrow’s fashion. In this age of over-consumption, fashion must also be responsible. But if you’re going to recycle, you’d better do it in style, in Luxsure fashion.
This is how Ariane presents her work to us: for her, upcycling is a high-end version of recycling, paying homage to the material by creating unique ready-to-wear pieces and chic, trendy accessories.
So why jeans? For our designer, denim is a living material that transcends time and never goes out of style. What’s more, with her golden curls and sparkling eyes, Ariane is the kind of woman who loves a challenge, and she explains that the constraints of using second-hand jeans actually become an inspiration, making her work unique.
Today, the brand collaborates with a number of Montreal outlets. However, you can really find the full extent of her work on her website. She has also launched a new “prêt-à-fabriquer” line that allows us to buy the pattern and give a second life to our jeans by transforming them into Kinsu accessories.
As far as I’m concerned, I’m not a good seamstress, so I prefer to buy from the site. However, the Kinsu site has become one of my favorites for accessories. I have a turban from them that I can’t get rid of, as well as a little dress for $198 that I’ve been eyeing for a while. Ariane also has some winter accessories that I’m buying for next year! I invite you to take a look just for the dress and turban that must be in your wardrobe.
