Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech
Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech, the first establishment of the Mandarin Oriental hotel group in North Africa, is an elegant, luxurious resort nestled in 20 hectares of olive groves and gardens with 100,000 fragrant roses. A small haven of peace! The resort reinvents the “Red City” luxury hotel experience, offering 54 private villas and 9 suites, nestled in lush vegetation. It also offers a new gastronomic experience with 3 restaurants and bar, including Mes’Lalla, headed by Chef Meryem Cherkaoui. In short, Luxsure loved it! Here’s a 5-point review.
1 ) Dream villas
Marrakech’s luxury hotel scene is very rich, with top-class establishments such as the Royal Palm and the Royal Mansour. But thanks to an offering composed exclusively of private villas and suites, Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech offers a different experience, the quintessence of comfort and space, in total intimacy. It outclasses its competitors. Dazzling, private villas offer a pleasant sense of privacy and serenity. Each is built in Moroccan architecture around a private pool, in a lush garden of fig, apricot and other fruit trees. You’ll feel like the king of Morocco for a few days.
Villas feature elegant marble bathrooms, with Nectarome amenities specially created for the hotel, as well as spacious indoor and outdoor living areas with Jacuzzi and heated pool. Outdoor spaces invite you to relax and unwind, with a solarium or shaded alcove furnished with cushions in traditional designs made in Marrakech by Moon Garden. Villas feature outdoor kitchens, allowing butlers to cook on site at guests’ request.
Each one is a real cocoon, where everything has been designed to offer the highest levels of comfort, but also to reproduce the enveloping softness of a home away from home.
2 ) An 1,800 m2 Spa
The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech, spread over 1800m2, features six Spa Suites, including one for couples. Each has its own terrace and private garden, where treatments are also available. Two luxurious hammams, a 73m² indoor pool, a fitness center equipped with the latest technology and a beauty and hairdressing salon complete this space dedicated to well-being.
3) Mes’ Lalla: Meryem Cherkaoui sublimates Moroccan cuisine
The Mes’Lalla restaurant offers traditional Moroccan cuisine with contemporary touches, created by renowned chef Meryem Cherkaoui.
Located in the west wing of the hotel’s main building, the Mes’Lalla restaurant is masterfully led by Chef Meryem Cherkaoui and her brigade. A native of Rabat and deeply attached to her family’s culinary heritage, she offers a contemporary interpretation of Moroccan classics. By revisiting the recipes of fishermen and farmers, she brings back the richness and diversity of popular cuisine, adding a streetwise touch to her interpretations. A refined yet relaxed discovery of an exceptional culinary heritage, with a focus on products, which she prefers to be organic, sourced directly from the kitchen garden or local cooperatives.
Meryem Cherkaoui offers two menus, Tradition and Signature, featuring seasonal dishes in keeping with the “locavore” trend. Signature dishes include Royale d’Harira, mint and parsley foam, condiments like a virgin, Berkoukech d’orge Mes’Lalla squid cannelloni with smoked eggplant, and confit aigre doux, lemon paste. An eclectic wine list completes the experience, with a fine selection of Moroccan wines – red, white, rosé and gray, as well as Lebanese, Italian, Spanish and French. For this emblematic space, architectural duo Gilles & Boissier opted for a chic, relaxed atmosphere and pure design, with a few contemporary reminders of Moroccan craftsmanship, such as the black and white marble mosaic carpets, each piece of which is hand-chiseled.
4) A glamorous pool and lush gardens

The 610 m2 swimming pool is very pleasant. From time to time, it’s nice to get out of the villa for a dip in the pool and then relax on deckchairs with extremely comfortable mattresses.

Strolling through the gardens is also a real pleasure. You can also take a tour of the hotel’s vegetable garden.
5) Top-notch service
The luxury experience is found in the group’s unrivalled and legendary service, combined with the best of the Kingdom’s traditions and hospitality. Room service is truly fantastic.
There were no false notes during our stay. A wonderful experience. The only question is: when will we be able to come back?
