2 months and 10 days after the Paris attacks last November, Agnès B. presented its latest men’s collection for the fall/winter 2016-2017 season in the Xe arrondissement near Place de la République.
In this emotionally-charged arrondissement, Agnès B. declares that this year, she “[didn’t] have the heart to present whimsical, playful, comical fashion, but rather simple, elegant, sober clothes”.
But Agnès B. remains Agnès B., and her collection is just like her: full of surprises and diverse influences. She invites us to take part in “extraordinary adventures inspired by the Latin Quarter, New Wave films, Jean-Luc Godard and Reservoir Dogs”.
Typical “titis parisiens” looks with berets, men with moustaches and comfortable short coats.
Both classic and “traditional”, the collection also features “so British” looks, with tailored blazers and blue tartan. There are also more punk, rock & roll outfits, with red tartan, trilby hats, slim-fit black pants and short cardigans, in tribute to David Bowie, whom Agnès B. dressed on numerous occasions and who recently passed away.
In addition, the collection is entitled “Tous les grands ont été petits” (“All the greats were small”), and was inspired by a self-portrait (she says it’s a selfie) by Rembrandt, taken in 1628 at the age of 23. The collection will feature pieces with velvet frock coats, tricorne hats and ruffled shirts.
There are also sportswear outfits, ideal for cold weather, with down jackets, hats and sweatpants.
