The Zarooq “Sand Racer” is the first car to be manufactured in the United Arab Emirates and specially designed for the desert. It weighs 950 kg and the 3.5l V6 delivers between 300 and 500 hp, with 45 cm of travel to facilitate Dune crossing.
It’s a genuine racing car with road homologation, a closed cockpit and air conditioning. It has a magnificent body designed by Anthony Jannarelly, the same designer as the Lykan Hypersport, the star car used in “Fast and Furious 7”. It is manufactured in the United Arab Emirates in partnership with Jannarelly & Juillot Special. The high-performance chassis was designed with Campos Racing (GP2 team and Formula E World Championship winners).
The name was inspired by the sand “Sand Racer Schockari”, the fastest snake in the desert, and in Emirati we say “Zarooq”. The team is made up of an Emirati (Mohammed Al Qadi), a pillar of local motorsport, driver Bruno Laffite, who has raced in Formula Renault, Ford and Indy Car (he’s also Jacques Laffite’s nephew) and Iannis Mardell, attached to the old Winfield school (which issued the Elf steering wheel and trained a large number of French F1 drivers from Prost to Bourdais via Alesi). www.zarooqmotors.com
