Formerly the mansion of Prince Roland Bonaparte, located in Paris’s chic 16th arrondissement, the Shangri-La Hotel offers guests a skilful blend of Asian art de recevoir and French art de vivre. The building itself has been listed as a Monument Historique since 2009, and contains 101 fully renovated rooms and suites offering breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower and the great Parisian monuments. Three restaurants run by two-starred chef Philippe Labbé and a friendly, intimate bar complete the picture for an ideal stay in the City of Light.
The young Maison Pinel & Pinel, headed by Fred Pinel, an exceptional trunk-maker, was chosen to decorate the hotel. Its founder likes to reinterpret the codes of luxury with impertinence, using noble materials and modern techniques (crocodile, shagreen, mixed with carbon or titanium). All Pinel & Pinel products are handmade to order in the Montmartre workshop. Accompanied by Arthur Simony, a highly versatile artistic director, the Shangri-La Hotel teamed up with the expertise of the young Pinel & Pinel house to decorate the hotel’s magnificent rooms for the festive season.
Three fir trees, all sheathed in leather like trunks, now adorn the Shangri-La Hotel’s flagship rooms: the entrance, the rotunda and, finally, the La Bauhinia restaurant.
In the entrance, the first fir tree is an arch, a symbol of transition and transformation, which will welcome guests by allowing them to pass beneath it.
In the rotunda, hotel guests can admire an upside-down four-meter fir tree, topped by Arthur Simony’s delicate artistic installation of keys.
Last but not least, the La Bauhinia restaurant will feature an all-leather Christmas tree with Haribo sweets hanging from it!
To further immerse you in the magic of Christmas, the Shangri-La Hotel has also installed an advent calendar in the same restaurant. In the form of twenty-four letterboxes, the person who draws a winning envelope each day will win a magnificent gift, such as a brunch at the restaurant or a treatment at the hotel Spa!
