This year, FIAC (Foire Internationale d’Art Contemporain) celebrates its 40th anniversary! With a single goal and leitmotiv: to remain attentive to the evolutions and challenges of contemporary creation, to lead forward-looking actions, to be creative and reactive, while ensuring a spirit of continuity in the conception of the event. In this way, FIAC 2013 reaffirms the strong points of its identity: the demand for exemplary quality and the rigorous choices that guarantee it, a generalist vocation that enables us to offer a balanced panorama of modern art, contemporary art and emerging creation, its openness to different forms of creation, its anchorage in the heart of Paris, in symbiosis with the public and private players in the world of art and culture.
As in previous years, the Nave and Salon d’Honneur of the Grand Palais will welcome 129 international modern and contemporary art galleries. The Salon d’Honneur will feature 24 leading galleries, internationally recognized for their ability to discover and promote the talents of tomorrow, as well as for their capacity to establish them firmly and support them effectively.
FIAC hors les murs, meanwhile, will be stepping up its Hors les Murs programming in prestigious Parisian venues, with exhibition tours of outside works, cycles of lectures, performances and artist film screenings. A not-to-be-missed event, FIAC’s Hors les Murs tours attract over 500,000 visitors every year. For its 40th edition, FIAC is delighted to present a new Hors les Murs site, extending its installation along the Seine, thanks to the redevelopment of the Berges de Seine rive Gauche, the City of Paris’ flagship project for 2013. For the 4th year, students from the Ecole du Louvre will provide a cultural mediation service to present the works and answer visitors’ questions. Supporting its installation along the Seine, FIAC will be running river shuttles serving the Jardin des Plantes, the Jardin des Tuileries, the Berges de Seine rive Gauche and the Grand Palais, providing access to the various Hors Les Murs sites.
