A family destination par excellence, the Charentes region promises unforgettable moments and thrilling outdoor activities! Whether you’re an adult or a child, a seasoned sportsman or woman, or just want to relax, fun and sharing are the key words for making the most of the region’s board sports, walks and challenges!
ON THE WATER!
– Jonzac – Haute Saintonge – La filadière, an introduction to traditional sailing on the Gironde estuary Among the boats on offer at the charming Port Maubert, Haute-Saintonge’s “La Parfaite” is a replica of a filadière, a traditional boat of the Gironde estuary. In the past, it was used for transporting goods and, above all, for fishing: lampreys, shad, tuna… Today, its destiny lies above all in nautical pleasures. Supervised 2.5-hour outings, with an instructor from the Ecole de Voile, enable you to cast off, learn the maneuvers for hoisting the sails, set sail and experience the thrill of sailing in the footsteps of tradition.

– La Rochelle Tourist Office – Family sports activities
From La Rochelle’s Vieux Port, visitors can embark on a journey of a lifetime: from unforgettable ports of call to exceptional vistas, a change of scenery is guaranteed. By cruise boat, catamaran or sailboat, the possibilities are endless. For the kids, there’s nothing better than a sea outing to the famous Fort Boyard, at the crossroads of the islands of Aix and Oléron! La Rochelle is also the ideal place to discover sailing. Spend a day learning how to tame the winds aboard a sailboat, or for the younger ones, a week of sailing lessons aboard the little optimists.
– Office de Tourisme Ile d’Oléron-bassin de Marennes – Set course for Fort Boyard!
Departing from the port of Boyardville, apprentice sailors can embark with Capt’ain René on this former lifeboat of the British Royal Navy, built in 1935. As the wind gusts through the sails, the whole crew sets sail for Fort Boyard. There are plenty of surprises in store for the whole family during this 1h15 trip. It’s even possible to take the helm and learn the basics of sailing, under the watchful eye of the captain.

– Unusual water sports on the Vals de Saintonge rivers
Stand-up paddling is ideal for learning to balance on the water, and can be practised on the Boutonne from the Bernouët leisure center in Saint-Jean-d’Angély with the Kayak Club Angérien, or water-skiing, babyskiing and wakeboarding on the Charente from the picturesque village of Taillebourg with the Nautic Club de Taillebourg. Great fun!
