Bulgari is making an exceptional donation on May 5, 2015 of around 500,000 euros to the humanitarian association Save the Children’s in Nepal. The aim of this donation is to help children and families affected by the earthquake.

In addition, Bulgari and Save the Children are announcing the launch of a youth support program in Nepal in early 2016.

An unprecedented earthquake, measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale, struck Nepal on April 25. The Nepalese government declared a national emergency. The figures speak for themselves: 8 million people, including 3.2 million children and teenagers, lived in the earthquake zone; more than 6,800 people have died so far; more than 14,000 have been injured; and more than 320,000 children have been left homeless.

The destruction of roads, bridges and other infrastructure is making access and communication very difficult. Despite all these difficulties, Save the Children teams arrived on the ground only a few hours after the terrible earthquake.

These same teams intervene at many levels to help over a million people.

Bulgari has been supporting Save the Children since 2009. To date, the company has donated $35 million to the humanitarian organization, helping over 700,000 children in need in 25 countries around the world, with a particular focus on education and extreme emergencies. Bulgari was very active with Save The Children during the earthquakes in Haiti in 2010, Japan in 2011 and China (Sichuan) in 2013. Alongside these actions linked to natural disasters, Bulgari has also been providing aid since 2014 to children in the Za’atari Syrian refugee camp in Jordan.
