A few days ago, we set off on the roads of the Tour Auto Optic 2000, one of the most prestigious and impressive automobile events.

For the 23rd edition of this legendary rally, some 250 crews took to the starting line at the wheel of their classic cars.

The party began at the Grand Palais on April 7 for the technical and administrative checks, which were open to the general public. The cars then set off for Dijon, Mulhouse (where we joined them), Aix-les-Bains and Valence, finishing in Marseille on April 12.

Faithful to its values, Optic 2ooo is showcasing its professionalism at every stage of the Tour, offering visual and hearing checks. Resolutely committed to the AFM Téléthon, the company is also appealing to the public’s generosity at the Tour’s stopover towns, with the aim of helping research into genetic eye diseases in particular.

From the Grand Palais to Marseille

On April 7, Europe’s largest glass roof, a true architectural feat, welcomed the 250 racing cars for the technical and administrative scrutineering of the Tour Auto. It was an opportunity for the public to admire the chrome and steel beauties at this ephemeral exhibition, before they set off the following morning for the first stage of the race: Dijon. Competitors then headed for Mulhouse, Aix-les-Bains and Valence, before the final finish in Marseille on April 12. All along the route, the days were punctuated by special stages on closed roads, as well as those on the Dijon-Prenois, Anneau du Rhin, Bresse and Paul Ricard circuits. In Mulhouse, where we joined the pack, we were able to discover the spectacular Cité de l’Automobile.

The official eyewear of the Tour Auto.

Chosen and produced exclusively for Optic 2ooo, the sunglasses for the 2014 edition of the Tour Auto Optic 2ooo are the official frames of the race. Comfort and protection are the watchwords of this new frame. Made entirely of acetate in black with red edging around the temples and frame face, the 2014 edition offers a style that combines fashion and sportswear.

For the 6th year running, Alain Figaret is the official partner and dresser of the famous Tour Auto race. The ties that bind the brand and the Tour Auto Optic 2000 are strengthened once again in 2014, testifying to Alain Figaret’s strong attachment to the world of classic motor racing. The brand has put all its know-how at the service of the official collection for this new edition, which carries the colors of the race very high. The quilted jacket, emblematic of the event, makes its comeback in navy blue. The collection also includes a series of exclusive sport chic shirts, polo shirts and accessories.
