Moderne Art Fair rises to the challenge
After another year impacted by Covid 19, the organizers of Moderne Art Fair have managed to hold their own amidst other events cancelled or postponed since 2020.
54 participating galleries, nearly 18,000 visitors over 6 days.
It was one of the art events eagerly awaited by many galleries, professionals and collectors after a two-year absence during the historic week dedicated to art in Paris. The fair signalled the return of gallery owners and visitors, who came in droves to meet and greet each other, with a substantial number of sales realized over the 6 days of the fair, and many promises made as well. Moderne Art Fair welcomed 54 exhibitors. The majority were from Paris, but there were also exhibitors from the provinces, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Lebanon, Canada, Morocco and Germany, who came to meet up with their buyers and make new ones. In all, some 18,000 visitors flocked to admire masterpieces of modern art and other contemporary creations and designs. A real success, given the obstacles imposed by this health crisis since 2020.
A “Fair is born
For the organizers of Moderne Art Fair, it’s a challenge they’ve taken up.
“We are delighted with the overall quality of the participating galleries’ exhibitions, as well as the enthusiasm and welcome shown by the public and buyers. Adeline Keit, Director of Moderne Art Fair.
“Moderne Art Fair is a mix of established gallery owners who also show emerging art. This makes for something interesting and different from certain fairs that only show very contemporary art, which is sometimes complicated to hang at home”.
Jacqueline Hoffman, director of Galerie Jeanne. “Contemporary art fairs do exist, but Moderne Art Fair has the specificity of marrying contemporary art with more classical 20th-century compositions, which suits us perfectly”. Vincent Amiaux, co-director with Philippe Bismuth
of Galerie des Modernes.
“I’ve always loved adventures, and Moderne Art Fair, in a way, is one of them.
The organizers have done a very fine and courageous job”.
Baudoin Lebon, director of Galerie baudoin lebon. A great success for the “Homage to Iolas” exhibition in collaboration with Alexandre Skinas and David Nahmad, which found its audience, charmed by its history and the works on display.
The artists featured include Picasso, Miró, Brauner, César, Seguí, Combas, Dubuffet, Warhol, Mathieu, Vasarely, Viallat, etc. From silkscreens at 600 euros to modern art paintings at over 3 million euros, Moderne Art Fair offers a wide choice of quality.
