Since it was invented in 2008, the Panasonic hybrid camera has made a dazzling comeback, thanks in particular to the evolution of its use: 98% of consumers share their content on social networks. So the Panasonic Lumix CM-1 was born, a camera with the image quality of an SLR and the fast connectivity of a smartphone.

This hybrid of a new kind, with the functionalities of a smartphone, is nonetheless a very good camera. Its one-inch sensor is seven times larger than that found on an iPhone, for example. What’s more, this camera is equipped with Leica optics opening to 2.8, with a choice of interchangeable lenses: fisheye or wide-angle, depending on the desired effect.

As far as shooting is concerned, we find all the functions of a classic SLR camera, in particular the manual mode, which gives us total control over the settings.
We can see that the Lumix CM-1 renders colors fairly close to reality, with its 1520 x 1080 p resolution, its 4.7″ full HD screen and fairly good low-light management. However, it’s difficult to get to grips with at first, particularly with the touch screen, and after a few trials and adjustments, we finally managed to capture some pretty decent images.

The functionality of this camera is twofold: it’s also a smartphone in its own right.
The Lumix runs on the Android 4.4 Kit Kat platform with a Snapdragon processor up to 2.3 Ghz.
It has all the classic smartphone features: Bluetooth connectivity, WIFI, 3G and 4G access. It has 16GB of internal memory, expandable via a micro SD slot.

The Panasonic Lumix CM1 is a perfect alternative to the amateur SLR range, not only because of its equivalent image quality, but also because of the hybrid’s weight – only 204 g – but this time with the option of making phone calls. A true technological Swiss army knife.
