In July 1997, Fashion Weeks (Men’s and Haute Couture) went ahead as normal. For the men’s collections, Gianni Versace called on choreographer Maurice Béjard, whose theme was a man killed by a woman, played for the occasion by Naomi Campbell. A few days later, for his Fall/Winter 1997/98 Couture show, the Italian designer used Byzantine crosses and dark tones as his main theme. This was to be his last collection.
