Everyone remembers what they were doing on September 11, 2001. Everyone remembers how they discovered these images, which now mark a turning point. Shocking, alarming, despairing: September 11th has become a defining event of the 21st century, changing the way we see the United States and geopolitical issues, giving rise to new fears… Yet we must move forward.
The duty to remember: a whole debate. Looking back, learning from mistakes… Many words and many evils. Sometimes images say more. Many artists and anonymous people have turned the famous Twin Towers into works of art, distancing them from a fateful memory, from an idea of the destruction of the Western world. Touched but not sunk, here are a few works that show that hope is not dead, that life has begun again, and that this date should not become a taboo spectre. Quite the contrary, in fact.
Turning history into art: a luxury that man possesses. A way of responding that is a fine tribute.
