“Curiosity”, the ambition that unites Kolkoz and Audemars Piguet

On Friday, December 6, 2013, French artist duo Kolkoz presented their work “Curiosity”, a snow-covered chalet, at Art Basel in Miami. For the occasion, Swiss watchmaker Audemars Piguet, in partnership with contemporary art gallery Perrotin, organized an exceptional event.

Since its inauguration on Tuesday, December 3, the day before the opening of the Art Basel trade show, the unusual object has never ceased to arouse curiosity. The week was marked by a number of events to mark the presence for the first time of the famous Swiss manufacturer Audemars Piguet.

Around large white tables adorned with candles, guests at the inauguration dinner were welcomed Thursday evening by François-Henry Bennahmias, CEO of Audemars Piguet. He expressed his enthusiasm for the brand’s involvement in the restoration of Miami’s Marine Stadium.

On Friday evening, a large party was held, with artists, collectors and gallery owners among the thousand or so guests. After arriving by speedboat to the emblematic modern structure of Marine Stadium, the evening continued in the “Curiosity”, intended to mark the rebirth of this disused venue.

Open to the public only from the weekend of December 7 and 8, visitors were able to explore the artwork and admire the Marine Stadium in a new light. Photographs of the Vallée de Joux by photographer Dan Holdsworth were also on display.
In addition to the 138 years of history presented with the most representative models, the Swiss watchmaker had also set up a retrospective of the “Royal Oak” model. The first luxury watch in stainless steel, it was recognized as one of the most important innovations in watchmaking.

Audemars Piguet is expanding its global partnership with Art Basel for future creative events. Audemars Piguet will continue its commitment to innovation, to the delight of its visitors.
