Hilditch & Key, one of London’s leading blouses, and Bates, the famous hat house, present their new collections. The two brands merged in 2010. Both can be found in their boutique on rue de Rivoli in Paris, opposite the Jardin des Tuileries. This is one of the oldest English stores in the capital, with a very British early 20th century style.
First of all, Hilditch & Key. It was founded in 1899 by Charles F. Hilditch and W. Graham Key. Their boutique on rue de Rivoli opened in 1907, and quickly met with great success. All their shirts are handmade to exacting quality standards, especially in the finishing touches. Seams are solid and meticulous. Of course, it’s not all shirts! You’ll also find pants, jackets and men’s accessories such as ties and scarves. The shirts on display are classic yet refined and elegant. Shirts for every day, but also for work.
Bates was founded in London in 1898. Edward Bates Lrd, in a boutique on London’s Jermyn Street, was styling the most discerning of men with elegant hats and caps. The family business expanded internationally, setting up shop with Hilditch & Key in Paris. The milliner creates highly luxurious hats for the “gentleman” of London and the world over. Bates uses noble materials, particularly felt. All their hats come with a leather or silk headband. There are also Panama hats made by the best weavers in Ecuador. Bates hats are of excellent quality and very sturdy.
