Every year, the Musée des Arts Forains never ceases to amaze us with its many shows. From December 26 onwards, for the 9th edition of its Festival du Merveilleux, the museum will be transformed into a huge photo studio, offering visitors the chance to stage themselves in fairytale settings & to plunge into the heart of the favorite attraction of 19th-century Parisians!
With this new creation, Jean-Paul Favand and his teams pay tribute to the beginnings of photography, to the tradition of self-portraits on photographic backgrounds, which at the time aroused a real craze for the medium among the general public.
Evoking the scenes and settings used in the 19th century, everyone will be able to metamorphose into a Folies Bergères showgirl, dance the French Cancan in front of Toulouse Lautrec, appear at the controls of a 1930s automobile, become Vermeer’s famous “Jeune fille à la perle” (Girl with a Pearl), take tea in the poetic setting of Alice in Wonderland, experience an Indian festival and even fly into space…
