It’s now official: Nicolas Ghesquière will have the tough task of succeeding the great Marc Jacobs as artistic director of Louis Vuitton. Nicolas Ghesquière, 42, a talented designer who spent 15 years at the helm of Balenciaga, has been free of contract since leaving the fashion house a year ago. He was sorely missed by the fashion galaxy, which had been so impressed by his talent that he received the prestigious International Designer of the Year award in 2001 in New York.
He will present his first collection in March 2014, and will be responsible for all women’s collections and accessories.
Nicolas Ghesquière also owns his own fashion house, part of the LVMH group.
