Comics Selection
CV_SUPERMAN-A-TERRE
Today, superheroes are everywhere, thanks in particular to film adaptations.
If you’re a fan, or just want to get back to the source, here’s a selection of the best comics of the moment, including “Superman – A Terre”. Writer J.M. Straczynski and illustrators Chris Roberson and Eddy Barrows introduce us to a depressed Superman, who decides to cross the USA on foot to reconnect with the average American, rather than continuing to battle supervillains. If you’ve only got one comic-book to read this summer, this is it. The highly original story is cleverly constructed and thought-provoking (Urban Comics).
In parallel, don’t miss “Superman – Earth One” (Vol. 1) from the same publisher. This time, JMS looks back at the transition from young man to superhero. A compelling story, illustrated by Shane Davis, which was a bestseller when it was published in the USA in 2010.

Also worth noting is “Black Hand’s Revenge”, the second volume in the adventures of Green Lantern, forced to team up with Sinistro (Urban Comics).

And if you’re a fan of Conan the Barbarian, the story “The Queen of the Black Coast” is sure to surprise you. Gone is the realistic style, now it’s time for adventure in all its forms and the beautiful Bêlit, the female pirate (Panini Comics).

Finally, Soleil has had the good idea of publishing the adventures of Flash Gordon (dated 1934 and 1937), by Alex Raymond, in the superb “L’Age d’Or” collection. This first volume is truly a classic, which has inspired the greatest artists.

Finally, on the DVD side, “The Fall of the White House” directed by Antoine Fuqua (M6 Vidéo) will delight action fans. With a superb cast (Gérard Butler, Morgan Freeman…), this film is ideal for a summer evening.
