From September 30 to October 10, 2013, the Claude Miller Writers’ Workshops are bringing their third edition to Lavaud Soubranne in the Creuse region of France. An opportunity for young authors to benefit from the experience of experts in the genre to work on their own screenplays and have the chance to see them staged in free public readings.
Born of the meeting between writer Jean-Guy Soumy and Annie and Claude Miller, the writing workshops are the fruit of a shared desire to pass on know-how and experience as authors, as well as a cinematic culture, through solid support in the writing of three screenplays.
This third edition will feature Rémi Mazet, author of Une place au soleil, who will be assisted by Natalie Carter and Louis Gardel in writing his screenplay:
“Near Dakar, M’Beubeuss is a gigantic open-air rubbish dump. A multitude of people
live permanently. Children, farmers, marabouts, bad boys form a picturesque
court of miracles…When threatened with disappearance to make way for a freeway, the
resistance is organized. And it’s OBAMA, a young boy, who takes the lead…”.
This year will also see the launch of a partnership with “Emergence”, a structure that for ten years has been supporting the young generation of auteur-directors making the transition from short to feature film. Chaired by Dominique Besnehard and directed by Elisabeth Depardieu, this exceptional collaboration aims to promote access to screenplays and offer prizewinners, including Rémi Mazet and Sophie Muller, the opportunity to test a scene from their screenplay “in real life”.
At the same time, the Festival Ciné des Villes et Ciné des Champs will take place from Thursday, October 10 to Sunday, October 13, 2013. This festival offers the Limousin public a program of fifteen films. films on heritage and current affairs, presented by their directors, scriptwriters, actors and producers, as well as specialist journalists. A unique opportunity to share the viewer’s perspective with the experience of masters of the art.
