This car, which we had the immense pleasure of testing, has everything you could wish for in a car, and probably even more.
A racy design.
Exclusive looks and strong character: the new Full LED headlamps on the BMW 7 Series combine unique design with dynamic function. The new grille bars and chrome elements on the front apron enhance the distinctive look, while the generous air intakes accentuate the sense of power that emanates from the whole.
“Air Curtains” technology improves airflow around the apron and front wheels. This technology effectively reduces aerodynamic drag, and consequently fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Short overhangs, an elongated hood and a recessed interior bear witness to the classic proportions of a dynamic BMW sedan at its most luxurious, especially on the Limousine version. New turn signals integrated into the exterior mirrors are specific to this new BMW 7 Series.
Elegance and power at their best: at the rear, the impression of serenity that emanates from the BMW 7 Series is rounded off by slight changes to the lines, as well as by the new arrangement of the reflectors and the presence of fine chrome elements.
Active Hybrid 7
The silhouette reflects the classic proportions of a BMW sedan at its most luxurious, especially on the Limousine version. New turn signals integrated into the exterior mirrors are specific to this new BMW 7 Series. At the rear, the impression of serenity that emanates from the BMW ActiveHybrid 7 is completed by slight changes to the lines, as well as by the new arrangement of the reflectors and the presence of fine chrome elements.
You benefit from a functional design coupled with reduced fuel consumption and emissions. Aero wheels effectively divert air to the sides of the car, minimizing aerodynamic drag. The optional 19″ Aero wheels and “Liquidblau” body color underline the car’s progressive character, as does the specific ActiveHybrid 7 lettering on the rear, quarter-pillars, interior and cylinder-head cover.
An interior of unparalleled luxury.
Taking a seat in the BMW 7 Series Sedan is akin to relaxing. The excellent quality of the design, materials and finish create a comfortable ambience that will satisfy even the most demanding customers.
The BMW 7 Series Sedan is an experience for all the senses: the interior offers a pleasant feeling of space, a high level of quality and first-rate functionality. As is traditional with BMW, the driver’s seat is oriented towards the driver, and a new, advanced “Black Panel” instrumentation system, with a fully digital display, provides an à la carte display depending on the selected driving mode. Thanks to ambient lighting, the interior of the BMW 7 Series is bathed in two different color moods, while perfectly soundproofed, it is filled with the rich, crystal-clear sound delivered by the Bang & Olufsen Hi-Fi Surround Sound System.
Combined with the optional active all-wheel steering, the new CONFORT+ driving mode ensures maximum comfort for all occupants. The car rolls without the slightest trace of roll when cornering or changing lanes, helping to create a truly unique driving experience. This is particularly true in the rear, where individual thermal comfort, optional Comfort seats with massage function and a multimedia station make every journey in the BMW 7 Series a rare experience – and with even more legroom in the 14-centimeter longer Limousine version.

As soon as you take your seat in the BMW 7 Series and close the door behind you, you find yourself in a space characterized by calm and relaxation. Stress, road and city noise remain on the outside – in the cabin, nothing else matters except you and your comfort.
Comfort seats with optional massage function relax the tense muscles of stressed rear passengers. Twelve pneumatic compartments massage the back musculature with undulations from top to bottom, while six others work with rotational movements from the shoulders to the lumbar region. On the road, the standard rear air suspension and the comfort-oriented CONFORT+ driving mode – especially in combination with the optional active all-wheel steering – effectively minimize all the discomforts associated with driving a car. This means you can tackle poor road conditions or fast-moving bends at the rear in complete relaxation.
If space is everything, the Limousine version is the ultimate in legroom.

Very impressive during our test drive. The driver looks ahead and remains fully focused on driving: the color HUD Head-Up Display projects instantaneous speed and navigation advice on the windscreen directly into his field of vision.
BMW Night Vision system.
A revolution that increases safety at night: BMW’s “Night Vision” system with dynamic pedestrian lighting detects people in the dark from a distance and illuminates them in a targeted manner. Incredibly effective even at full speed, one of the highlights of our test drive.
Advanced adaptive high beam.
More light for better visibility. Advanced adaptive high beams, a sub-function of the directional and full LED headlamp options, make it possible to drive at night with the high beams permanently on, without dazzling other road users. This makes night-time driving less tiring and considerably safer.
BMW EfficientDynamics.
The BMW 7 Series Sedan consolidates its flagship status thanks to increased power and reduced fuel consumption. It owes its success in particular to ultra-efficient TwinPower Turbo engines, the latest hybrid technologies and the intelligent combination of BMW EfficientDynamics and BMW ConnectedDrive technologies.

Its sister model, the BMW ActiveHybrid 7, takes progress a step further by intelligently combining innovative technologies. Its energy management system enables all on-board systems to implement the optimum strategy for different situations.
The proactive assistant perfectly coordinates the work of the combustion and electric motors and the high-performance lithium-ion battery. It does this by anticipating the route profile stored in the Professional navigation system. All the energy stored in the high-performance battery can then be used on uphill gradients for maximum dynamism. Energy recovered on downhill gradients is fed back into the high-performance battery.
Anticipated energy storage enables emission-free all-electric operation for as long as possible in town or in the “home zone”. On freeways and secondary roads, ECO PRO mode takes advantage of slight downhill gradients to enable the BMW to coast on its own kinetic energy at speeds of up to 160 km/h. When the driver lifts off the gas pedal, the combustion engine is switched off, reducing fuel consumption to zero.
Intelligent efficiency is even more dynamic: when overtaking, the overboost function supports the combustion engine with additional electric torque of up to 210 Nm.
