On the weekend of April 5 and 6, 2014 Drouot will open its doors to the public for the “Journées Marteau”, a national operation to promote public auctions.

The Parisian auction house will offer the public the chance to learn about auctions and the art market through fun and instructive activities.

Hotel Drouot

During this exceptional weekend, auctioneers will be on hand to introduce visitors to Drouot’s activities and services. Free advice and estimates, inventories, appraisals, putting an item up for sale, the auction process, buying and transporting works… auctions will hold no secrets for you!

Throughout the weekend, Drouot Formation will be offering thematic or historical lectures and exhibition visits.

The “Destination Drouot” program of exhibitions and sales will be particularly varied: classical furniture and objets d’art, antique and modern paintings, jewelry, 20th-century decorative arts, textiles, curiosities, artists’ studios, press drawings, tableware…

This year, the “Journées Marteau” focus on tableware, with a preview of some twenty exceptional pieces embodying the art of living aboard the legendary superyacht Le Phocéa. We’ll be able to admire some of the finest names in the world, including Baccarat, Buccellati, Bulgari, Cartier, Wedgwood, Christofle, Garrard, Hermès, Lalique, Puiforcat, Mappin & Webb, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Louis Vuitton, Lorenz Baümer…
