In the world of bespoke jewelry, there’s too often a tendency to think of things as static and fixed. Indeed, because of the lifespan of pieces and stones, they are too often considered timeless, and therefore immobile. Designer Marie-Ann Wachtmeister goes against this cliché. A woman with an atypical background (she trained in marketing and strategy), what began as a hobby (because she cherishes everything that has to do with the creative aspect) has become a real occupation.
And it’s from the season and observation that her creations are born. Ego by MAW is feminine, volatile and adaptable. The collection was inspired by the observation that women are constantly changing and renewing themselves.
The result is modular jewelry with removable stones. More than 11,000 combinations are possible, knowing that a MAW ring is composed of a base, a setting ring, a stone and two rings. This technique is used not only on rings, but also on pendants, bracelets and cufflinks, enabling wearers to have something for every occasion. Precious or semi-precious stones, the possibilities are endless and the results always more astonishing than the others.
The jewels are produced in Italy, and what inspired the designer was in fact a challenge issued by her sister: “How can I change the stone on the jewels and adapt them to different occasions? So it’s with a strong, intelligent concept that engages the user in every detail of the jewel’s creation that this Swedish jeweler offers us, and we wish her every success.
