The metallic damsels by PACO Rabanne

A change of creative director at Paco Rabanne, making it one of the most eagerly awaited shows of the season. Lydia Maurer replaces Manish Arora as Artistic Director. The designer, fascinated by the brand’s history, has chosen to update the glorious silhouettes of the great years after a thorough research project.

Thigh-high plastic spartan shoes that remind me from behind of the seam of a silk stocking: that’s all I need to be won over by this collection. In fact, the shoe comes in several versions, sandal or thigh-high, black or transparent, and blends so well with the rest that I’m under its spell.

The house’s famous dress is reinterpreted by the designer with great success. Choosing a material such as metallic mesh, she sets the tone for the entire collection: metallic, futuristic and devilishly sexy.

Dresses and skirts are mid-thigh length, with a youthful, contemporary feel. The waist is marked, for effortless glamour and heightened sensuality. The colors come in dresses, skirts, trench coats, jumpsuits, shorts and pants, which make up the bulk of this collection. This time, we’re treated to black, white, amethyst, gray and gold hues.

The ensemble is enhanced by the omnipresent mesh construction, which acts like a baffling case for the jewels that are the garments of Paco Rabanne’s Spring Summer 2013 season.
