Opening of a new G-Star boutique in Cannes

Last night, G-Star inaugurated a new boutique in Cannes. Renowned for its innovative approach to denim, G-Star celebrated the event with a party during the 65th Cannes Film Festival, featuring performance, art, music and fashion. The boutique was officially opened by the brand’s new male muse, American actor Caleb Landry Jones, and singer Anna Calvi.

It was during this evening that the collaboration with Caleb Landry Jones was announced. A rising star of American cinema, Caleb Landry Jones will star in the Fall-Winter 2012 campaign, shot by legendary photographer Anton Corbijn. The female star chosen to appear alongside him in the campaign will be unveiled at Bread and Butter in Berlin on July 4, 2012.

The opening of the new G-Star boutique brought together many of the world’s leading creative talents, including singer and songwriter Anna Calvi, a guitar virtuoso with a dark romantic style, who delivered a memorable acoustic performance. DJ Jean-Benoît Dunckel, ex-member of electronica duo Air and electro-pop group Tomorrow’s World, also got the many guests dancing, including Lou Lesage, Beatrice Rosen, Delphine Chanéac, Shirley Bousquet, Christophe Barratier and Aurélien Wiik.

 

The opening of the Cannes boutique was also an opportunity to present the Denim Museum, a traveling denim museum featuring the RAW Art Séries, a project designed to push back the boundaries of denim by presenting it as collectible art objects. The event was also enlivened by a G-Star Pop-up fashion show, transforming the catwalk into a veritable interactive mini-show.

 

G-Star has been expanding rapidly in recent years, opening stores in the world’s major capitals, from Tokyo to New York, via Hong Kong and Los Angeles.
