The world of work is fertile ground for series writers: from Caméra Café to The Office. This is the setting for the new comedy to be broadcast on the encrypted channel from April 19.
The pitch: A small, run-of-the-mill company with a female workforce that’s far less so. Karine, Nathalie, Déborah, Hélène, Sophie and Sophie are undoubtedly the worst nightmare of the macho in each of their colleagues. The format of the series (13 minutes per episode) is quite original. It favors a sequence of short sketches. The six main characters are completely crazy. First and foremost is Karine, a cynical, tyrannical forty-something who’s really funny. Deborah, the nymphomaniac HR director, goes to extremes and lets her impulses guide her. Hélène, the depressive employee, is perhaps the character with whom we have the least empathy. She furiously reminds us of Marina Fois in the heyday of Robins des Bois. Nathalie, Karine’s assistant and a mother of five, is busy with permanent perineal rehabilitation. Finally, there’s the tandem of Sophie and Sophie the hostesses.
We see this little world in motion, in which men are relegated to the status of secondary characters. Life in this small business is not all doom and gloom: a war for parking spaces, a farewell party snubbed by all employees…
Even if several gags fall flat, WorkinGirls takes the absurd situations as far as possible, and shows great audacity.
