The PJS capsule collection previewed before its presentation at apparelsourcing Paris
The third edition of the PODIUM Jeunes Stylistes competition, sponsored by Couture talent Christophe Josse, took place last night. The competition crowned Lou de Testa the winner for her three magnificent outfits (two creations and a third ready-to-wear) inspired by the difficult-to-interpret theme of schizophrenia. Silk crepe, the compulsory material for this edition, was the common thread running through all the creations.
The fifteen designers in the PODIUM Jeunes Stylistes competition presented their fresh, creative designs, the result of 3 months of development, to an audience of journalists from the French and international press, fashion and retail professionals.
The jury, made up of leading figures from fashion, the arts and industry, were won over by the talents of the competitors, who combined silk crepe with other materials in exceptional ways. They chose designer Lou de Testa for her cut work and added value Couture with pieces embroidered with feathers by Maison Février, a renowned Parisian feather-maker. Her interpretation of the theme of schizophrenia was a fine exercise in style: for example, her first passage, a long red dress with triangular shoulders and a front that reaches up to the chin, giving it a camisole-like feel symbolizing internalization. A graduate of the Parisian Chardon Savard school, she has worked for Alexander Wang and Vivienne Westwood.
“Talents like Lou de Testa ensure a dynamic future for Paris, fashion capital of the world,” emphasizes Michael Scherpe, president of the jury.
, who is also President of Messe Frankfurt France, the competition’s main partner, is delighted with the success of this third edition, which was both rich and promising for the future. He emphasizes that “as part of the development strategy of Messe Frankfurt France’s fashion trade fairs: Ethical Fashion Show, apparelsourcing Paris and Texworld, we are supporting young talent to ensure the relay in our professional branches”.
With this prize, Lou de Testa will have the opportunity to
– follow a free two
month Business Marketing course at the ESCP-Europe Business School in Paris.
– and to present its three outfits, along with the PJS capsule collection, at apparelsourcing
Paris, from February 13 to 16 at Le Bourget.
“This award confirms that I’m on the right track with my current projects, as I’m currently developing a men’s collection that will be on sale on the Carnet de mode website,” says Lou de Testa.
The jury awarded an exceptional prize to Paul May Le Van Ho for his remarkable work: an exquisite menswear collection that combines poetry and technique, like this black cape with embroidery from the Lesage workshops combined with laser-cut lace-effect leather.

In addition to the two competition outfits, the 15 designers were asked to design a third ready-to-wear outfit for the PJS capsule collection. For this premiere, they had to design a cocktail dress.
The Messe Frankfurt trade show, dedicated to sourcing and finished products, to be held from February 13 to 16 at Le Bourget, will present this first collection.
The 15 creations, all in silk crepe, are aimed at buyers looking for a quality product for the women’s market.
The market-orientation of the designers and the openness to designers from international fashion schools and self-taught designers distinguish the PODIUM Jeunes Stylistes project from other existing fashion competitions. Messe Frankfurt was won over by the seriousness of this ambitious project.
For a first, the collection will benefit from high visibility among the show’s international visitors.
Vincent Rouvière, President of the association that created the project, comments: “We can’t wait to be at the show to get direct feedback from professionals”.
