A shattering year for the worlds of finance and fashion… One of the world’s most serious financial crises shook one world, while the death of Yves Saint Laurent shook the other. Two worlds linked and at the same time opposed. The cynicism of the former gives the latter the means to lead millions of people to the land of beauty, elegance and dreams…
2008 also saw the creation of JCLM Valérian Couture, a symbolic step for the talented couturier on the eve of his fortieth birthday.
Symbolic because, after many years of shared experience working alongside the greatest couturiers (Dris Van Noten, Tom Ford / Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Lacroix and Paco Rabanne) for three seasons with each, Valérian Hughes will be able to develop his own collections, like the apprentice who completes his “tour de France” and becomes a journeyman.
As a “craftsman of beauty”, he devoted himself to putting into practice, under his own label, the advice passed on by his “master” Yves Saint Laurent: “Young man, your duty is to enhance your customer’s natural elegance”. In this way, he created timeless fashion for a woman who evolves harmoniously in a society in perpetual motion, combining elegance with sensuality and independence.
Fashion inspired by her surroundings, influenced by her Afro-Caribbean origins and the music of her childhood, whose rhythm is reflected in the movements and fluidity of the fabrics.
