Like the showroom, the Cerruti Hommes collection for Autumn-Winter 2011-2012 was full of reflections, in lambskin leathers, waxed denim, fur and silks. One editor whispered “Oh, a marron glacé” at a brown-clad silhouette, but it was more the reflections of hannetons that he evoked for us.
On each piece, details reveal the work done: quilting of lambskin leather on dress shoes or shoulders, mottled wools and foals are brought up to date with leather inserts. All in all, Cerruti Hommes presented a solid collection, sometimes with a healthy touch of whimsy, and despite a few eyebrow-raising elements, such as the fur headphones. These elements gave a more elegant touch to a wardrobe that felt young and firmly resolved to turn its back on suit clichés.
Men also escaped the terrible news of the end of the women’s collections, following the decision of new investors to refocus on the core business. Too bad for Richard Nicoll, who had left us wanting more last season.
