In the world of champagne, certain names resonate as symbols of excellence and tradition, and Veuve Clicquot is undoubtedly one of these undisputed emblems. In 2024, the house reveals its new vintage, La Grande Dame Rosé 2015, a cuvée that not only echoes its rich heritage but also celebrates the continuous innovation that characterizes the brand. This prestigious wine is a vibrant tribute to one of the most daring figures in champagne history, Madame Clicquot, nicknamed “the Grande Dame of Champagne”.
A Tribute to the Pioneer of Champagne Rosé
Madame Clicquot is not only famous for taking over the reins of the champagne house after the death of her husband; she is also renowned for her groundbreaking innovations. In 1818, she created the first blended rosé champagne by mixing her red Bouzy wine with her white champagne cuvées, breaking the conventions of the time. Grande Dame Rosé 2015 continues this tradition of excellence, making Pinot Noir, Madame Clicquot’s favorite grape variety, the backbone of this wine.
Cuvée 2015: A blend of excellence
Didier Mariotti, cellar master at Veuve Clicquot, points out that La Grande Dame Rosé 2015 is the ultimate expression of Madame Clicquot’s philosophy. Composed of 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay, with an additional 13% red wine from the historic “Clos Colin” parcel, this cuvée highlights the complexity and richness that Champagne terroir can offer. Notes of red fruit mingle with sweet spices such as pepper, nutmeg and clove, while floral touches of rose and violet add an extra dimension to this rich composition.
Artistic collaboration with Paola Paronetto
For this edition, Veuve Clicquot collaborated with Italian artist Paola Paronetto, nicknamed the “Papess of Color”. Known for her work with paper clay and her vibrant creations, Paronetto designed the box for La Grande Dame Rosé 2015, bringing a contemporary touch that reflects both the spirit of the cuvée and her own artistic style. This collaboration underscores Veuve Clicquot’s commitment to innovation while honoring its heritage.
A Sustainable Commitment
In keeping with the artist’s and the company’s commitment to sustainability, the box is made from recycled and eco-responsible materials, including hemp, cotton and FSC-certified paper. This choice of materials is in line with Veuve Clicquot’s desire to reduce its environmental impact while offering responsible luxury products.
La Grande Dame Rosé 2015 isn’t just an exceptional champagne; it’s a celebration of history, art and sustainability. Available to buy at Printemps Haussmann and Clos19.fr for €250 incl.
