From September 20, 2024 to May 4, 2025, the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris presents “Les Fleurs d’Yves Saint Laurent”, an exhibition exploring the intimate relationship between couturier Yves Saint Laurent and the world of flowers. Orchestrated by curators Olivier Saillard and Gaël Mamine, the exhibition highlights the floral inspiration that marked Yves Saint Laurent’s entire career.
This retrospective follows a first chapter held at the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech, demonstrating the international dimension of this project. For the first time, the two museums have joined forces for a joint program, enriching the discourse on the importance of flowers in the couturier’s work.
A Tribute to the Floral World
At the heart of the exhibition, visitors will discover some 30 iconic silhouettes, drawings and accessories that illustrate how flowers were a constant source of inspiration for the designer. These works are set in dialogue with quotations from Marcel Proust, another figure who profoundly influenced Yves Saint Laurent, in particular his way of comparing women to flowers.
Unique Works and Installations
In addition to Yves Saint Laurent’s creations, the exhibition will be punctuated by works by American artist Sam Falls, whose artistic practice engages a reflection on time and mortality through nature. His works, using natural pigments and direct impressions of flora, will create a contemporary echo to the couturier’s creations, offering a renewed vision of floral beauty.
Dresses Like Gardens
Visitors will be invited to stroll through the exhibition as if in a garden, with each section offering a different sensory experience. From delicate embroideries to vibrant prints, each creation reflects the couturier’s commitment to transforming fabrics into veritable works of art.
