A delightful experience at the Palais Galliera Museum
Museums have long been shunned by chefs, with the majority offering only snacks to satisfy hunger pangs between exhibitions. Today, a new form of catering is taking hold, making the most of these magical, history-filled venues. These include the Palais Galliera, which all summer long hosts Les Petites Mains, Chef Vincent Mallo’s restaurant in the heart of the 16th arrondissement.
In reference to the people who work in the shadows of fashion shows, Les Petites Mains is the new ephemeral table at the Palais Galliera, the Paris Fashion Museum. A monumental 600 m2 space is reserved for it in the heart of the gardens. At the top of the stairs leading up to the Palais, a few tables enjoy a view of the Eiffel Tower, surrounded by statues and white stone columns. Down below, the terrace seats a large number of diners, allowing them to observe the beauty of the Palais in the sunlight.
With a continuous offer this summer, including August, Les Petites Mains adapts to the rhythm of the museum, allowing visitors (or not) to enjoy the terrace from 11am to 11pm. And for another month, the Musée de la Mode will be showcasing the world of Gabrielle Chanel. Under the direction of Chef Vincent Mallo, the cuisine is generous, sincere and inventive, deliciously trendy and renewed every week. The emphasis is on raw produce and virtuous producers. Revealed by the TV show Objectif Top Chef, Vincent Mallo is a passionate, self-taught chef. After two years spent honing his skills at private culinary events and on consulting assignments, he will take the helm of Les Petites Mains restaurant at the Palais Galliera in May 2021.
