Classic Fusion 40 years anniversary

Bold and avant-garde, Hublot was and is even more so in 2020! By creating a gold watch to be worn on a rubber strap in 1980, the company transgressed classical codes and laid the foundations for its own vision of Haute Horlogerie. To mark its anniversary, it has reinvented the 1980 Classic Original, emblematic of its disruptive approach. Between past and future, watchmaking tradition and technical innovation, this 2020 edition comes in a mechanical version.

Materials, finishes, modern technologies and fetishes multiply this icon into three collectable models, in tribute to Hublot’s 40th anniversary.

The new Classic Fusion watches express the timeless elegance and refinement of the 1980 Classic Original and the modernity of forty years of unceasing exploration and innovation. The polished lacquered black dial is ultra-sober, distracted only by the presence of faceted hands and the applied H and Hublot logo. The 45 mm case in yellow gold, titanium or black ceramic is crossed by the famous screws on the bezel and features a sapphire crystal back, all worn on the unchanging rubber strap that is easily adjustable to the wrist and comfortable to wear thanks to the triple folding clasp. These signature details bring the first Hublot watch up to date, and suggest that these timepieces will stand the test of time with just as much character.

Combining original design and comfort, the 1980 Classic Original quickly won over a public of connoisseurs in search of different watchmaking products. Carlo Crocco, Hublot’s founder, wanted it to be practical, resistant and wearable in all circumstances. At the time, Hublot was the first watch brand to dare to combine precious gold with modern rubber, developed in-house. Materials so dissimilar that it was impossible to imagine them in harmonious harmony. Thus we discovered the beginnings of the Art of Fusion, or an exploratory approach to materials, energized by the technical research and audacity adopted by Hublot for 40 years.
