Huawei launches the ultra-light HUAWEI MateBook D series with FullView display

The new range offers a tailored experience for young users

Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) announces the launch of its new HUAWEI MateBook D 14. Designed with younger users in mind, Huawei’s latest 14-inch laptop offers a revolutionary cross-platform experience, enabling users to work seamlessly with multiple devices through a single screen. The MateBook D 14 is fully in line with the DNA of Huawei’s PC range, which is distinguished by its meticulous design, innovative technologies and intelligent user experience. In addition to its lightweight chassis, FullView screen, top-flight performance, sturdiness and sleek design, the latest HUAWEI MateBook D boasts a new range of features including Multi-screen Continuity. Equipped with a full range of intelligent capabilities, the HUAWEI MateBook D 14 stands out as a worthy companion for technology fans.

For our PCs, we have stayed true to our initial promise of bringing new experiential innovations with each new model. With the HUAWEI MateBook D 14, we’re committed to delivering the best experience for young users. While elegant, powerful and smart, it’s much more than a productivity aid: it’s the ideal PC, excelling in both office and gaming uses. “says Wang Yingfeng, President of Huawei Consumer BG’s PC and Tablet product line.

Large-format experiments

The market for ultra-thin laptops is growing fast. Always in pursuit of design perfection, Huawei has drawn on its technological expertise in smartphones and system integration capabilities to design a computer with ultra-thin edges on its FullView screens. This approach enables Huawei to integrate a large screen into a minimalist chassis, offering the best of both worlds. In line with the rest of the MateBook family, the HUAWEI MateBook D 14 features a FullView display. With a thickness of just 4.8 mm, three ultra-thin edges surround the screen, enabling an exceptional size-to-screen ratio of 84%. The lightweight chassis is accentuated by a sleek design with curved edges giving it an elegant look. Small improvements such as thinner bezels and a recessed camera allow Huawei to further reduce the size of this notebook. With dimensions of just 322.5 mm x 214.8 mm x 15.9 mm, the HUAWEI Matebook D 14 is one of the smallest and lightest 14-inch laptops available to date in its price range. Beneath the anti-reflective coating, the 14-inch 16:9 IPS display supports Full HD resolution (1920 × 1080) and a maximum aperture angle of 180 degrees. The high-quality screen is perfectly suited to all content, from high-resolution images to Blu-ray videos. The MateBook D 14’s panel has also been certified by TÜV Rheinland for its low blue light emission, promoting better eye protection.

A powerful processor offering solid performance

Younger users don’t see notebook PCs simply as a tool for getting work done, but as a complete platform offering them the opportunity for entertainment, among other things. The HUAWEI MateBook D 14 AMD is powered by a 12 nm AMD Ryzen™ 5 3500U processor to deliver powerful performance while maintaining a high level of stability and reliability. For the GPU, the notebook’s integrated AMD Radeon Vega 8 graphics card offers outstanding graphics processing support. The HUAWEI MateBook D 14 excels in cooling and battery life. For cooling, the notebook features a new version of the HUAWEI Shark Fin Fan. With its new S-shaped fins, the HUAWEI Shark Fin Fan 2.0 dynamically optimizes airflow to improve cooling and laptop performance. In terms of battery life, a high-capacity 56 Wh battery supports up to 9h30 of continuous local 1080p video playback on a single charge. This battery allows users on the move to freely use their computer without having to worry about their battery. Included with the HUAWEI MateBook D 14 is a 65W portable multi-purpose USB-C charger and USB-C to USB-C cable. The charger fits all Huawei smartphones and tablets that are equipped with a USB-C port. It also features overheating protection that automatically stops the charging process when the temperature crosses a certain threshold, ensuring optimum safety. Equipped with 8GB of dual-channel DDR4 memory, the HUAWEI MateBook D 14 has enough memory to handle most of the high-load applications available on the market. The SSD of the new HUAWEI MateBook D 14 is connected to the motherboard via the PC interface. The dual-antenna WLAN module efficiently receives the WLAN signal for improved connection speed and stability. In addition, a diverse selection of interfaces can support multiple I/O requirements simultaneously, including data transfer, peripheral connection and battery charging.

Intelligent connection made easy

In November 2018, Huawei launched HUAWEI OneHop, enabling users to easily transfer files, including images and videos, between smartphones and PCs. This solution has revolutionized the way users move files between Windows and Android devices by tackling the challenge of cross-platform file transfers. The latest HUAWEI MateBook D series introduces a new set of multi-screen collaboration capabilities built on the foundations of HUAWEI OneHop. The new features enable the HUAWEI MateBook and a Huawei smartphone to share a single screen from which users can drag files from one user interface to the other. In this way, they can transfer files and display content saved on their smartphone directly on their laptop. Peripherals connected to the laptop can also be used to navigate on the smartphone, giving laptop users direct access to mobile applications without switching devices.

Launch offer and availability The MateBook D 14 is available today in its 8GB + 512GB configuration for €749.99 with the new HUAWEI FreeBuds 3 earphones. The MateBook D 15 is also available today in its 8 GB + 256 GB configuration at €699.99 with the new HUAWEI FreeBuds 3 earphones.
