This is how Selección de Familia was born. Specially created for wine merchants by the Maestros Roneros (Master Rum Makers) Diplomático, this blend of perfectly expressed flavors is the fruit of a selection of rums with the most sophisticated nuances through repeated tastings throughout their maturation until the optimum blend is achieved. This new organoleptic expression remains faithful to the expertise and values of the Diplomático family, following traditional artisanal production methods that allow control of the rum-making process from A to Z. Mainly made from cane honey (90%), it is aged for up to twelve years in ex-bourbon and sherry casks, giving it all its character and density. This cuvée has been designed for those who appreciate more complex taste profiles and enjoy them with care and passion.
Diplomático rums are made from molasses and sugarcane honey. The latter are fermented using the distillery’s own yeast strains. Molasses is used to produce lighter rums, while sugarcane honeys are used to make more complex rums. For Selección de Familia, the Diplomático family has captured the essence of the most sophisticated rums, based mainly on sugarcane honeys, to give it this robust yet refined body. Expertly blended, Selección de Familia is mainly distilled in copper stills (complex rums) and in distillation columns (medium and light rums) to offer a spicy, dry rum that will win over the most discerning palates.
