After Dita Von Teese and Rossy de Palma, Catherine Ringer is the latest of Jean Paul Gaultier’s muses invited to join the Folies Bergère stage for 7 exceptional performances of the revue.
Author, composer, multi-instrumentalist and singer, Catherine Ringer remains unclassifiable. Her energy and originality, intact in a career spanning more than forty years, give her a singular place in the French musical landscape. She has never stopped performing and composing since her early days in musical theater and her meeting with Fred Chichin at the end of the 1970s. Their duo, Rita Mitsouko, established a new artistic language in the 1980s, and many of their songs are steeped in the history of French rock and pop music.
Since Fred Chichin’s death, she has continued to pursue her musical path with the humor, gravity and emotion that characterize her. In 2012, she was named Best Female Artist at the Victoires de la Musique awards, for her album Ring n’ Roll. Her latest album Chroniques et fantaisies was released in 2017.
She will be on stage at the Philharmonie de Paris for a “carte Blanche” on September 28 and 29 to mark the fortieth anniversary of Les Rita Mitsouko‘s creation.
Emotion incarnate
Catherine Ringer has already made two video appearances in the show. She performs two original songs adapted with Nile Rodgers: the couturier’s encounter with his great love Francis with I Want Your Love (Dimitri from Paris Remix) and then his disappearance I’ve Got You Under My Skin. She now joins the cast of
Fashion Freak Show on stage, with its boundless energy, gentle madness and bewitching voice.
