At the invitation of Espace Carpeaux (Courbevoie), photographic artist J.LEO presents his new series “Corps pour Elles”, featuring the female body in the bodyscape, until December 21.
This title, “Corps pour elles”, is the body of whom, and who are “they”?
“Elles” are the figurines, and the body is a woman’s body. The play on words is simply “corporeal”. I only work with the body.
I use the body for them. “They” are the figurines, but this can be interpreted differently. You could say that foreign bodies are figurines for them, the women. People interpret as they wish. What guided me for the title was above all the bodily aspect of my approach. In the end, there are three ways of understanding the title: corporeal, corps pour elles, les figurines and corps pour them, the women.
