The “Inside Chanel” website (inside.chanel.com) retraces, in the form of short films, the story of Gabrielle Chanel and her iconic creations that forged the legend and built the House of CHANEL. The sixteenth chapter, “Le Camélia”, celebrates the emblematic CHANEL flower.
Delicate, a symbol of purity and longevity in Asia, the camellia seduced Mademoiselle Chanel, who in 1923 made it one of the elements of her style: stitched on a garment, adorning a hairstyle, engraved on the buttons of a suit, a motif of embroidery or lace, the camellia became a signature.
Today, like the comet or the lion, it remains an essential element in CHANEL’s creative universe.
