The Cerruti 1881 brand, founded by Nino Cerruti in 1967, sees its new creative director, American Jason Basmajian, renew the brand’s ready-to-wear range.

At the latest Paris men’s fashion week, Cerruti 1881 presented some 30 chic, elegant, retro and mysterious silhouettes, straight out of an Italian Mafia or Hitchcock film, in the Pavillon Vendôme on Place Vendôme.

Jason Basmajian’s main objective for this collection was to return to the brand’s fundamentals, to take up the legacy bequeathed by Nino Cerruti, who opted for refined luxury in simple, wearable clothes for everyday life, always using high-quality materials.

In the collection, we find many three-quarter coats or jackets that are a little more “sporty”. Pants are straight-cut, but tightened at the ankle. Nevertheless, we retain the brand’s tailoring side, with tailored suits and blazers.

In terms of materials, Jason Basmajian worked with linen, cashmere, silk, shearling and tweed. Prince of Wales motifs are also featured. Colors range from duck blue to black, gray, camel, chocolate and rust.

All in all, it was a successful gamble for Jason Basmajian, with his collection following in the footsteps of Nino Cerruti. The presentation was also an opportunity to witness Tristan Tymen’s first steps as a model for Paris Fashion Week, following his victory in the Elite International competition.
