The Moon Phase in the spotlight
Like something out of a nocturnal dream, the Premier Moon Phase 36mm tells the story of a moon that, after a dazzling appearance, is gently hidden behind delicately openworked white mother-of-pearl lace.
The lunar cycle, hours, minutes and date indication are precisely animated by Harry Winston’s exclusive HW5201 quartz movement. The moon’s path is revealed at the center of the timepiece by a crescent-shaped openwork, while the hours and minutes are suggested by elegant beveled hands. The date in Arabic numerals appears at 6 o’clock in a round aperture adorned with a fine gold border.
Mother-of-pearl contrasts, round shapes, dazzling lights
The sublime dial of the Premier Moon Phase 36mm combines a variety of materials and artistic techniques to give it a three-dimensional appearance: carefully selected mother-of-pearl, contrasting hues and skilfully crafted volumes.
The grace that emanates from the dial comes from two superimposed mother-of-pearl layers. The first, immaculate white, evokes light, while the second, pearly blue, recalls the deep azure of the night sky.
The contrast of this composition irresistibly draws attention to the center of the piece, where the moon phase shines. Gold cabochons at the ends of the dial punctuate the reading of the time, giving life to this gentle mise-en-scène over which Harry Winston’s beloved emerald at 12 o’clock seems to keep watch. The 18 brilliant-cut diamonds at 6 o’clock are matched by 12 brilliant-cut diamond hour-markers all around. Together with those on the bezel, arches and buckle, they create a sparkling 2.58-carat ensemble. This sparkle echoes the 18-carat pink gold of the 36 mm-diameter case and the iridescent accents of the white alligator strap.
