Comics Selection

Today, superheroes are everywhere, thanks in no small part to film adaptations.
If you’re a fan, or just want to get back to the source, here’s a selection of the best comics currently in bookshops, including “Avengers Infinity” (Marvel Now) volume 4.
The greatest heroes must face the Builders, and the threat is so great that they’re going to ally themselves with civilizations (Krees, Skrulls…) they once fought. An ambitious saga orchestrated by scriptwriter Jonathan Hickman and illustrator Leinil Francis Yu (Wolverine fans know him well…).
At the same time, Daredevil fans can look forward to 5 episodes by Mark Waid and Chris Samnee in volume 3 “Epiés de toutes parts” (Marvel Now). As usual, Waid surprises the reader: Matt Murdock, who has revealed his secret identity, will help his friend the Stuntman, then be confronted by Shroud, Owl and his daughter, Jubula Pride. These are pleasant adventures, featuring Matt’s new companion and illustrated with old-school plates.

From DC and Urban Comics, the Justice League is back in an 8th volume entitled “The Injustice League”. Geoff Johns has written an exciting story in keeping with the DC spirit. Lex Luthor, who helped defeat the Crime Syndicate, is now part of the League! Together with Superman and his fellow members, he’ll be trying to eradicate the Amazo virus, which he designed and which, when accidentally released into the atmosphere, threatens the very existence of mankind. The artwork, notably by Jason Fabok, is exciting and well suited to the story’s structure.
In parallel, Batman (Vol. 7) introduces us to a Bruce Wayne without his fortune. Here, Batman returns to a new headquarters, supported by his new aide-de-camp, Julia Pennyworth. It’s time for the Justice League to attack Gotham! The Dark Knight’s allies are in fact manipulated by a gas that attacks their minds and distorts their faces into a grimacing grin. The Joker makes his grand return to Batman’s life – chills guaranteed!
Finally, the monthly “Superman Saga” features memorable adventures as always, including one by the Geoff Johns-John Romita Jr. duo.

On the DVD side, action fans will be delighted to (re)discover “Jurassic World” (Universal). On the program: a genetically modified prehistoric animal wreaks havoc in the park. Chris Pratt, with the help of Omar Sy, will try to save what can be saved! A real success, with action, great special effects and humor. The film outperformed “Avengers: Age of Ultron” at the U.S. box office. Enjoy !

Last but not least, hats off to the first Paris Comic Con last October. Animations, participants, conferences, speakers… a great success, with over 30,000 visitors on more than 10,000 square meters of floor space.
