Charlie Watch’s flannel Buci puts the spotlight on your wrists

Dear beloved watch,

In winter, I welcome any source of warmth. Whether it’s a velvet jumpsuit, an XXL scarf tied around my neck or a pair of lined boots. It’s all about snuggling up to a comforting texture. But it never occurred to me to warm my wrist in the literal sense of the word. You’re with me every day and never leave my side. You’re my spatio-temporal marker, which either urges me on or reassures me when I think I’m running out of time.
So to graciously reward you, I thought of the hippest gift of the season. Goodbye crocodile, floral or kaleidoscopic patterns. When the snowflakes hit the ground, you’ll be decked out in your finest flannel dress. Navy blue, mottled gray, burgundy or fir green, I’ve got a whole range to choose from.

A newcomer to the world of French watchmaking, Charlie Watch is a brand founded in 2013 by two friends, Ambroise and Adrien. The concept is marked by a desire to spread a friendly state of mind that allows everyone to identify with the brand. This watchmaking house cultivates the development of Made in France, a guarantee of quality and know-how that meets the public’s expectations. The Buci model shown here with its tweed strap has been revisited for the winter season. Its 37mm steel case, curved on the edge, is a slim 6.5mm thick. The sand-colored dial features fine chrome indexes that reveal themselves in contact with the luminous flux. This model features the slimtech Ronda 1063 movement. Elegance is the order of the day. Its unbeatable price is not a lure. It simply proves that value for money is the order of the day, even for a new brand.

Contrary to current usage, which sees the wristwatch as a 21st century standard, it took a long time for it to reach the wrist! Introduced as a pendant in the seventeenth century, then carried in a pocket before finally arriving on the wrist, this format hasn’t always met with unanimous approval. Considered a little too feminine, the wristwatch was long rejected by a totally macho male population. But that’s without taking into account a current trend that values this dormant femininity in all men without emasculating it. When we look at contemporary collections, the conclusion is clear. The influx of models that claim to be mixed is proof enough of a social evolution in tune with the mores of our time.

So there’s no need to blush with pride, opt for a dandy model that will suit you and your other half.

Recommended retail price: 145 euros.
